چکیده

We present results from a NuSTAR observation of the Crab made at a large off-axis angle of 1.5◦. At these angles X-rays do not pass through the optics, but rather illuminate the detectors directly due to incomplete baffling. Due to the simplicity of the instrument response in this configuration and the good absolute calibration of the detectors, we are able to measure the absolute intrinsic flux of the Crab to better than 4%. We find the spectral parameters of the powerlaw to be Γ = 2.106 ± 0.006, N = 9.71 ± 0.16, in agreement with the values measured 42 years ago by Toor & Seward (1974). This suggests that the observed variability of the Crab is not part of a long term trend, but instead results from fluctuations around a steady mean. The NuSTAR observation also enabled improved measurement of the detector absorption parameters without the added complications of the mirror response. New Constraints on the Black Hole Low/hard State Inner Accretion Flow with Nustar

We report on an observation of the Galactic black hole candidate GRS 1739−278 during its 2014 outburst, obtained with NuSTAR. The source was captured at the peak of a rising “low/hard” state, at a flux of ∼ 0.3 Crab. A broad, skewed iron line and disk reflection spectrum are revealed. Fits to the sensitive NuSTAR spectra with a number of relativistically blurred disk reflection models yield str...

The Compton hump and variable blue wing in the extreme low-flux NuSTAR observations of 1H0707-495

The Narrow-line Seyfert I galaxy, 1H0707-495, has been well observed in the 0.3– 10 keV band, revealing a dramatic drop in flux in the iron Kα band, a strong soft excess, and short timescale reverberation lags associated with these spectral features. In this paper, we present the first results of a deep 250 ks NuSTAR observation of 1H0707-495, which includes the first sensitive observations abo...

The Energy Spectrum of TeV Gamma-Rays from the Crab Nebula

The imaging atmospheric Čerenkov technique has been successfully used for observations of the Crab Nebula in the TeV energy range. However the Crab Nebula energy spectra, measured by several groups, still differ noticeably in power-law index as well as in absolute -ray flux. The HEGRA stereoscopic system of 5 imaging atmospheric Čerenkov telescopes has been used for long-term observations of th...

Broadband X-ray Properties of the Gamma-ray Binary 1fgl J1018.6–5856

We report on NuSTAR, XMM-Newton, and Swift observations of the gamma-ray binary 1FGL J1018.6–5856. We measure the orbital period to be 16.544 ± 0.008 days using Swift data spanning 1900 days. The orbital period is different from the 2011 gamma-ray measurement which was used in the previous X-ray study of An et al. using ∼400 days of Swift data, but is consistent with a new gamma-ray solution re...

AN EXTREMELY LUMINOUS AND VARIABLE ULTRALUMINOUS X-RAY SOURCE IN THE OUTSKIRTS OF CIRCINUS OBSERVED WITH NuSTAR

Following a serendipitous detection with the NuSTAR observatory, we present a multi-epoch spectral and temporal analysis of an extremely bright ultraluminous X-ray source (ULX) located in the outskirts of the Circinus galaxy (∼4 away from the nucleus), hereafter Circinus ULX5, including coordinated follow-up observations with XMM-Newton and NuSTAR. The NuSTAR data presented here represent one o...
